Whilst all sauna kits and pre-fab saunas come with everything that you require to enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating body sauna, you may also wish to add some accessories to you sauna room for that extra little bit of luxury.
Many sauna kits offer a number of optional extras, but even if you choose not to select them at the time of your sauna purchase, you can always add them on at a later stage. Some of these accessories are functional, whilst others can help give your sauna its own identity.

- Practical sauna accessories include items like towel racks and headrests. Towels can of course be left on the benches, but it is tidier and creates a more spacious and organised look if they are hung up on their own rack.
- A timber clothes rack can also be useful for any gowns or clothing used to enter and leave the sauna.

- Creating the right atmosphere in the sauna is very important and Aromatherapy has always been a part of the sauna experience. In the original sauna's of Finland, where wood burning stoves were used to generate heat, herbs and birch were used to produce scents and aid relaxation. - There are a number of practical additions that can be added to the sauna room that can provide some useful information.
- The most obvious is a wall mounted clock (typically in wood) to match the sauna lining. A sauna is not a good environment in which to keep a watch.
- A timer is also a useful and attractive sauna option. Although the sauna heater (stove) should have a timer associated with the thermostat, a traditional sand timer of wood and glass will never go amiss. It also helps to rid us of the clock watching mentality that so dominates the rest of our lives.
- A thermometer and hygrometer set, typically mounted on a wooden plate, provides vital information about the sauna's environmental conditions. Most sauna users like to know the exact temperature and humidity of their sauna at any moment in time and this piece of equipment allows constant and accurate monitoring.
- A copper or wooden ladle, along with an equivalent pale, are necessities for anyone wishing to enjoy a steam shock, or the addition of humidity to the sauna. These items are essential for anyone who wants to have the option of enjoying a wet or dry sauna experience.
- Ventilation grills (typically in wood) can be useful if the sauna gets too hot, or to assist in flushing out the heat and humidity once a session has been completed.
- Oxygen ionizers are claimed to release negative ions which purify the air. Some sauna ionizers can also be used to dispense natural oils and scents which help relaxation.
